The State Museum of the History of St.Petersburg – one of the largest historical museums in Russia. More than 1,3 million exhibits reflecting city history on river Neva from the moment of his basis up to now are stored in funds of the museum. The center of the museum is the Peter and Paul Fortress – a unique monument of history, architecture and fortification art of the 18-20-th centuries. A dominant of an architectural complex - Peter and Paul Cathedral - one of symbols of St.Petersburg, a tomb of Imperial House of Romanovs. In historical buildings of the Peter and Paul Fortress expositions and temporary exhibitions of the museum are located.
